Bangladesh are all set to lock horns with India in their first game in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy in Colombo on Thursday. They will be missing their skipper and the star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan due to the finger injury which he sustained while playing in the final of the tri-series against Sri Lanka at home. He missed the Test and T20I series against the same team and Pakistan Super League (PSL) since then. However, despite not being in the squad, Shakib has travelled to Colombo in order to buck up his mates ahead of the crucial India game.
The Tigers would be eyeing to register their maiden T20I victory over India who have already lost their opening game against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh is yet to beat the Men in Blue in the shortest format in five attempts so far. Though it will be their best chance to do so given India is struggling with their bowling attack in the absence of their key players.
Mahmudullah confirms
Mahmudullah continues to lead the team in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan and he confirmed the presence of the stalwart in the dressing room. “Yes, Shakib is in Sri Lanka now. He is with the team now. It is good to have him with the team and the players are excited. He is here to share his words and thoughts with the team,” he told reporters on Wednesday ahead of the game.
Shakib was also seen advising some of his teammates at the ground on Wednesday morning and everyone was taken by surprise. Also, it is being known that he will leave Colombo on Wednesday night and then will travel to Australia for the treatment on his injured finger. He has been snapped up by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) and his participation in the tournament is under threat now.
