Jacques Kallis gave confidence to Nitish Rana
The chief coach of KKR, Jacques Kallis revealed that he had assured Nitish Rana that he would be a settled part of the team. “We had given him a message that he will be a settled member in the side and he just needs to showcase his talent. We are backing him 100 percent and certainly, it has paid off,” The former South African all-rounder said as quoted by the SportsStar.
Nitish Rana was a part of Mumbai Indians set up last season. He played a brilliant inning of 50 from 29 balls to take the game away from KKR in the last edition. This knock gave ample opportunity to the management of KKR to scout this talent.
“He played well against us in Mumbai. We had heard some good things about him, but, perhaps, he didn’t get as many games for MI as he would have liked. He certainly has got a bright future with KKR,” Kallis said.
Discussing the position of the team
KKR has got off to an indifferent start to the campaign. The two-time champions of the IPL have only won half the number of matches in the 11th edition of the league. Their coach seemed to be satisfied with the season till now. He argued that the team has played some good cricket but admitted that he would want to see the team on the other side of the standings.
“We are in the mid-table now, the other end would not have been nice. We have played some good cricket. It’s nice to get a few days off and regroup in Delhi, and hope to return to winning ways,” The KKR coach said.
