Nobody has the right to interfere in Mithali Raj's personal life: Women activists
Mithali Raj was earlier trolled on uploading a picture on Twitter.
Women activist Mariya Alam Umar has come out in support of Indian captain Mithali Raj. She said that people who are trolling Mithali for posting the picture on Twitter are making fool out of themselves. The Indian women cricketer is the highest run-getter in Women’s ODI cricket, and she recently led her team to the world cup final against England. A few social media ‘moral police’ took a dig at her and called her names. She was body shamed in a disgusting manner. On Tuesday, Mithali posted a picture with the caption: #tb #PostShootSelfie #funtimes #girls takeover”.
One of the follower asked her to delete it by saying “ Delete it maam it’s not good!People idolize you but this dressing sense doesn’t. Thumbs down!” Some asked her to behave herself, as she hails from Tamil Nadu. Many slammed the sexist comments and supported Mithali on this issue.
Activists slams trollers
Speaking to ANI, Mariya said that people trolling Mithali are portraying a wrong impression of their culture. “It is an insult to a woman and a player. What kind of a culture are these people presenting by posting such dirty comments? Nobody has the right to interfere in her personal life,” she said.
A laughing stock
Another activist Ruby Mukherjee backed Mithali and said, “Mithali can wear whatever she wants to. She is an adult and knows what to wear. If you are telling her what to wear, then you are making a laughing stock of yourselves.”
She was earlier trolled for sharing a picture along with her teammates at an event in Bangalore recently. A follower pointed out that Mithali was sweating, and it was very much visible in the picture. The skipper quickly replied back to the guy saying “ I am where I am because I sweated it out on the field! I see no reason 2 be ashamed of it, when I ‘m on d ground inaugurating a cricket academy”.
