There have been speculations doing rounds among fans that Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma would not be able to make to Australia at all for facing them in the Test series. However, a BCCI source in the know of things has brushed off these speculations and stated that they are troubled with logistical issues while sending the two mains Down Under. Both Ishant and Rohit have been ruled out of the first two Tests.

Rohit Sharma suffered a left hamstring tear on October 18 while being in action in IPL 2020. On the other hand, Ishant was ruled out of the 2020 season on October 12 after he went down with a left oblique muscle tear. Hence, the duo could not form a part of the Test squad that headed to Australia for mega-series.

Sharma’s fitness test is scheduled at National Cricket Academy on December 11. However, the trouble clouds are still hovering over India as it is unsure of the two players to make their way to Australia and complete the mandatory quarantine procedure of 14 days.

“But the problem is that there’s a 14-day mandatory state quarantine in Australia. Even if he is allowed to travel on the 12th, how will he fly? There are no commercial flights. And even if he manages to fly, he has to undergo the two-week solitary quarantine. When will he be available, subject to fitness…We all knew he was never going to fly,” stated the BCCI source as quoted by Sportskeeda.

Rohit Sharma was expected to fly with the team on November 12: BCCI source

Rohit Sharma was supposed to take a flight from Dubai to Australia with his teammates. In this case, he would have easily completed the isolation period and would have been ready for the match, but instead, he took a flight to Bangalore, NCA, for reasons still unknown.

“Rohit Sharma was expected to board the flight with the rest of the team on November 12. But he chose not to and instead headed to the National Cricket Academy. Nobody in the BCCI knows who asked Rohit to head to the NCA…Whatever the confusion, it has dented the team’s preparations,” the source concluded.
