‘Nobody is bigger than your PM right now’ – MS Dhoni’s spouse reveals why the veteran hasn’t posted about coronavirus
Sakshi also sounded bemused by Dhoni's retirement rumours.
Sakshi Dhoni, the spouse of MS Dhoni, recently said that her husband is under constant pressure to opine on the coronavirus pandemic. Apart from not playing any cricket since the 2019 edition of the World Cup, Dhoni hasn’t been active on the social media platforms as well. Occasional videos and pictures of his, enjoying with family, have been doing the rounds though.
Sakshi, who’s married to the cricketer since 2010, said that at the present point in time, Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the thick of things. As per Sakshi, it’s a reason why Dhoni hasn’t spoken about it and rather, has been following the directives set by the Indian government. She expressed her opinions during an Instagram Live with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
MS Dhoni’s wife makes the revelations
“He’s had pressure to post videos on coronavirus and all, but he hasn’t. Because you know, if your PM has said something then you should jolly well follow it (the guidelines). Nobody is bigger than your PM right now, in the country. So yes, that’s why he hasn’t come and stated anything on social media,” Sakshi was quoted as saying during the chat.
Sakshi also sounded bemused the reports of Dhoni’s retirement that has been around since the latter last played cricket. “He has had zero presence on social media during this lockdown, I don’t know where these things come from. I just don’t know,” she added. Most of the experts, along with Dhoni’s parents and childhood coach, have opined on Dhoni’s plans.
Recently, a hashtag by ‘DhoniRetires’ came to the fore. It didn’t go down well with Sakshi, who put up a scathing tweet, which she later deleted. “It’s only rumours ! I understand Lockdown has made people mentally unstable ! #DhoniRetires .. Get a life ! (sic),” her tweet read.
During the interaction, Sakshi also talked about how Dhoni has been spending all his time, playing PUBG. She also stated how the veteran has been busy assembling spare parts in order to fix his bikes. Dhoni was set to make a comeback in the IPL 2020, but it had to be postponed for an indefinite time period.
