Northamptonshire sign James Taylor as a part of their coaching unit

James Taylor had to retire at the age of 26 due to a heart condition. He was a fantastic player for England and had scored loads of runs in the domestic circuit. Leicestershire is where James Taylor rose from and averaged above 50 in almost all the seasons he played at the first-class level.

He was one of the most important members in the Nottinghamshire side which won the YB40 tournament in 2013. Taylor scored 585 runs at an average of 73.12 in that tournament. His average in domestic circuit is 53.11 which is the fourth highest. He has scored 15 centuries and five fifties in his 131 innings career.

Taylor, however, at the start of the 2016 season had to retire from cricket with a heart condition called ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy). It was very hard for him to retire after making his England debut and performing excellently. He scored at an average of 43.27 for England in the One-Day Internationals and a memorable century against the Aussies in 2015 which earned his side a victory over their arch-rivals.

Taylor now has been busy coaching, he has been appointed in the coaching set up of the Northamptonshire unit for the upcoming Royal London Cup. The Northants have been doing well in the shortest format of the game but are struggling to hit the form in the one-dayers. Taylor’s experience and his ability to assess the conditions and the situations will come handy for the Northants.

Taylor who has done a bit of coaching already sounded excited. He said that he cannot wait to get started as he has spent a bit of time commentating but I happy to be back on the field in any condition. He was all praise for Northants claiming that they are a skillful side.

James Taylor said, “I’m excited. They are a skillful side who have clearly done well in one-day cricket in the past. I spent a bit of time commentating at the County Ground last season and am keen to offer up my expertise to the squad. Whilst my focus will no doubt be on the batsmen, I will be on hand to assist across all areas. I can’t wait to get started.”

It will be interesting to see how Taylor goes about his business. It might be a second innings bit too early for Taylor.
