'Not sure that should be happening from a captain of an international team' - Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist react to Virat Kohli's stump mic comments

Australian legends Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne aren’t quite happy with Virat Kohli’s comments during the recently concluded series between India and South Africa. A lot of experts were quite surprised when a DRS call showed that Ashwin’s delivery to Dean Elgar was going above the stumps. The Indian skipper vented his frustration in the stump mic lashing out at the host broadcaster.

The heat over the incident was too much as England’s Michael Vaughan, South Africa’s Daryll Cullinann all wanted serious action to be taken on Kohli for his words. The delivery meanwhile had cleary hit Elgar on the lower portion of his pad and was expected to crash into the stumps. But Hawk-eye’s verdict left even the umpire Marais Erasmus bewildered.

Former Australian wicket keeper batter Adam Gilchrist felt that the the line has been crossed in terms of making accusions over a country. He noted that Kohli’s words have been ‘brewing’ to an extent as the latter related to the incidents of Australian side getting caught on camera of tampering the ball.

“That accusation there I am interested in Warnie; this seems a bit premeditated. This has been building or brewing and it has got to a breaking point. That accusation about filming teams shining the ball I am assuming it goes all the way back to that very ground when the Australians were caught out on camera,” Gilchrist said on Fox Cricket.

Shane Warne, on the other hand, had a different view as he admitted the ball should have gone on to hit the stumps. However, he felt that Kohli being an international skipper and venting out frustrations of that kind was unacceptable. He also added that it was a one off incident and revealed he won’t take more accusations.

“Look it is an interesting one, I am not sure that should be happening from a captain of an international team. But sometimes frustration overflows, you just get so frustrated and that’s why I said I wonder if that has happened three or four times through the series, and that was like okay that is enough now we can’t have it anymore,” Warne added.
