'Nothing like getting behind your sponsor' - Ravindra Jadeja pointing to India Cements on his jersey triggers meme fest
Ravindra Jadeja smacked three sixes in the last two overs which helped CSK win the game dramatically.
The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja emerged as a hero for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the reverse-clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on October 29, Thursday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. His quickfire cameo at the fag end of the innings turned around things for the three-time champions as they added another 2 points in their bag. With CSK’s win against KKR, Mumbai Indians became the first team to qualify for the playoffs while it has dented the chances for the Knight Riders to finish in the top 4.
Batting first, it was a fluent start for KKR as the opening batsman Shubman Gill started firing from the very first ball. Though the team looked in trouble in the middle having lost their three wickets of Gill, Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh cheaply, the in-form Nitish Rana toyed with the opposition bowlers to play a splendid knock of 87 runs off 61 deliveries at a strike rate of 142.62.
His innings included 10 fours and 4 sixes. Captain Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik also made notable contributions to take their team towards a respectable total of 172.
Ravindra Jadeja triggers a meme fest on social media with his celebration
Chasing 173, the Super Kings got off to a slow start but the opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his second consecutive half-century in IPL 2020 to bring his team in the game. His knock of 72 off 53 including 6 fours and 2 sixes kept CSK ahead in the chase. The mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy brought KKR back into the game by taking the wicket of MS Dhoni.
The Yellow Army needed 30 off the last 12 balls and a quickfire splendid innings by Ravindra Jadeja of 31* off 11 helped the Kings in winning the match by 6 wickets. After hitting the winning six, Jadeja’s unique celebration triggered a meme fest on social media.
To celebrate the victory, Jaddu turned his back towards the camera and gestured towards the top of the shirt where the name of the sponsor ‘India Cements’ was mentioned. It can be considered as a mistake as in the Indian team jersey, the name of the player is placed before the number, however, in CSK’s jersey the name of the sponsor was written at the top.
After the pictures of the all-rounder pointing towards the sponsor ‘India Cements’ went viral on the social media, people started coming up with a lot of hilarious memes and weird explanations regarding the same.
