'Nothing new' - Twitter not surprised after Virat Kohli loses toss in the 1st Test vs England
Virat Kohli doesn't have a good record with tosses in general.
The much-awaited Test series between England and India has finally got underway. The opening game is being played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham as the second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) has also started now. Both the teams will be looking to start the series well and toss generally plays a huge role, especially in England where ball moves a lot.
And England skipper Joe Root was lucky to win it and opt to bat in the first Test. It wasn’t much of a surprise though for Virat Kohli to lose who hasn’t been at his best when it comes to winning the tosses. Interestingly, he lose all the five tosses on the last tour to England and hasn’t started well this time around in that aspect.
Having opted to bat first, the hosts will now be looking to post a huge total on the board and put India under pressure later in the game. One thing going the visitors’ way is they won the Test match last time India and England faced at the venue and they will be confident of doing well.
India and England go batting heavy
India and England both have surprised everyone with their playing XIs. Both the sides have gone batting heavy and have preferred bowlers who can bat to balance their line-ups. India have picked Shardul Thakur taking the risk of dropping their premier spinner Ravi Ashwin. Thakur impressed everyone with his batting abilities in Brisbane on Australia tour and picked seven wickets with the ball as well. KL Rahul is set to open as well after Mayank Agarwal got ruled out.
Meanwhile, England have once again gone with an all-pace attack and the left-arm spinner Jack Leach has been left out. They bat very much deep with Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson both playing along with James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
Meanwhile, the fans were not impressed much with Virat Kohli for his luck with the tosses. As some of them expressed their clear disappointment over the same while few were busy trolling the Indian skipper.
