'Now I can say that Pakistan has a good finisher' - Imran Nazir hails Asif Ali

Pakistan has had a splendid run in the T20 World Cup 2021. The team has put up some good shows on the display to dominate the proceedings. However, Pakistan’s middle-order batter Asif Ali has impressed many with his cameos in the matches. The former Pakistan opener Imran Nazir has thus lavished praises on him.

In the match against New Zealand, Asif Ali played an impressive knock of 12 balls 27 runs. He then chimed in with quickfire innings of seven balls 25 runs against Afghanistan to take the team past the total. Nazir was impressed with his performances and stated that Pakistan now has a good finisher. He also pinned his hopes on the batter to keep winning matches for the team.

“Asif Ali played extraordinary innings which helped Pakistan win the last two matches. Now I can say that Pakistan has a good finisher. Although, if he can improve his ability to take singles, if the situation demands, I think he will become an even better batsman. He was struggling before this event but credit goes to him for improving his batting and making a comeback in such a fashion. I hope he can consistently finish matches for Pakistan in the future as well,” said Nazir while speaking to Cricket Pakistan.

The Men in Green has exuded their dominance in the high-profile tournament. After registering a historic victory against India, they continued their winning momentum to emerge triumphant against New Zealand and Afghanistan. The Babar Azam-led side thus secured three straight wins and Nazir praised the team for their performances.

“I’m really happy with Pakistan’s performance so far. After a long time, we have seen the Pakistan team do well in all departments of the game. If we can continue this momentum, I’m sure that we will win the World Cup,” Nazir added.

The former cricketer also added that he hopes to see India and Pakistan play the finals of the T20 World Cup 2021. He asserted, “My wish is that Pakistan plays final against India. No doubt, India has a great team and they can qualify. They just had a bad day against Pakistan [in the group stage] which can happen to any team.”
