Nupur Nagar picks husband Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s favourite spell

Nupur Nagar, the wife of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, picked the spell against Pakistan on debut as the most favourite her husband has bowled thus far. In the T20 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Indian fast bowler made the leather talk, making life difficult for the Pakistan top-order. Though the Men in Blue lost the game by five wickets, Kumar conjured lots of praises.

The pacer churned out 19 dot balls in his stupendous spell of 4-0-9-3. Ever since the incredible display of bowling, Bhuvneshwar became one of India’s key bowlers across formats. Recently, Kumar featured in a talk show named ‘Spicy Pitch’ along with wife Nupur. In the fifth episode, Nupur was happy that her better-half with Jersey number 15 was ‘in demand’ in his very first encounter.

“His debut against Pakistan. I was in the hostel then, and my friends did not have any idea about Bhuvi and me. So, they were also very impressed with his bowling. While watching the match, they were saying ‘call that 15-number T-shirt guy for bowling’ and I was happy knowing that he was in demand,” Nagar was quoted as saying to Manish Batavia, the show’s host.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar runs through Pakistan

From his opening over itself, Bhuvneshwar gave the Pakistan openers- Nasir Jamshed and Ahmed Shehzad- headaches. In the last ball of the over, his vicious in-swinger snuck through Jamshed’s bat and pad, and cannoned into the stumps. In the second delivery of his next over, Shehzad nicked one to Dhoni as Bhuvneshwar lured the batter into the drive. Bhuvneshwar didn’t stop there though.

In the final ball, Umar Akmal had no clue about a delivery that jagged back sharply and hit the top of middle stump. Chasing 134 in 20 overs, all of a sudden, Bhuvneshwar’s opening spell reduced the visiting team to 12 for three in three overs. The Pakistan batsmen then became circumspect.

To his dismay, he didn’t get much support from the others. Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik’s 106-run stand for the fourth wicket didn’t allow India to build on more pressure. In the end, Pakistan chased the target down in the final over with a couple of balls to spare.
