The Royal Challengers Bangalore fans will be on tenterhooks after their team’s slip-up in the last three games. And it is because their team is yet to qualify for the next stage. Though they have been playing some quality cricket, this tournament is such that even a single loss can change the fortunes of the side. Especially for them who have a habit of floundering at the business end of the tournament.

In this season, the Virat Kohli-led side was cruising at one stage. Many also anticipated that they might be the first one to seal the playoffs spot. And for that, some credit should go to their bowling attack who has stood up for the team, unlike the past few seasons. Their striking performances gave them the extra boost that has been missing for a long time. But then suddenly, their skipper made a mistake of tinkering with the winning combinations.

It might sound vague at first, but these small things do matter in a high-pressure tournament like IPL. After their thumping win against Kolkata, Virat surprisingly decided to change the playing XI for their tie against CSK. He dropped Isuru Udana for fitting Moeen Ali into the side. The England cricketer was included to provide the all-round balance. But neither did he score runs, nor did he complete his full quota of overs. Thus the move backfired completely, and it didn’t stop there as he did it again in their encounter against Mumbai. In the end, the question arises that ‘Why to do such things when you are winning games?’
