Delhi Capitals (DC), led by Shreyas Iyer, have been a force to reckon with this year. With a whopping seven victories in nine league clashes, they comfortably sit at the top of the points tally. A big credit for Capitals’ successful run in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) goes to their head coach and mentor Ricky Ponting.

Former Australian captain Ponting has played an instrumental role in DC’s success in the past two years. He has successfully transformed a relatively young batch of players into match-winners with his motivation and experience. Ponting had taken over as the head coach of DC ahead of last season. The veteran along with the young and dynamic captain Shreyas Iyer took the team to the playoffs, while this year, DC is deemed as the favourites to lift their maiden IPL trophy.

Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis disturb Ricky Ponting

Apart from having a splendid season on the field, the team is in high spirits with a good team culture. This could be easily deduced by an incident of Marcus Stoinis and Rishabh Pant having fun with Ponting during their clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, October 17.

The Delhi-based franchise was chasing a more-than-decent total of 180 posted by the Yellow Army on the board when the on-air commentators decided to have a chat with Ponting to know about the team’s strategy on how they were planning to approach the next few overs in the run chase.

While the coach was involved in giving the interview, the Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis decided to have some entertainment as he video-bombed the interview with a grin. The injury-marred Rishabh Pant was not behind as he stood behind Ponting and mimicked his mouth and hand actions, which left the commentators and the players in splits.

Meanwhile, taking a funny dig at the whole episode, Ponting posted a picture of Pant and Stoinis disturbing him on his official Twitter handle. Tagging both the dynamic players, Ponting wrote that he hopes he will get to do an interview in peace at some point in his life.
