One Player from each team who can win Orange Cap in IPL 2020

The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few weeks away as the world awaits yet another season of thrilling cricket matches. T20 cricket has been known for its innovation and the shortest format of cricket is one of the main reasons behind the increase in the sport’s fan following. IPL has also contributed its bit to the world of cricket. It introduced the new concepts of Orange Cap and Purple Cap in order to notch up the excitement in the cash-rich league. The bowler who takes the most wickets in the tournament takes the Purple Cap home while the batsman who scores the maximum number of runs wins the Orange Cap. It is the dream of every batsman to win the Orange Cap in the IPL and, here is the top candidate from each team who could win this title in 2020: 1. Chennai Super Kings – Suresh Raina Suresh Raina. (Photo Source: Twitter) The left-handed batsman from Uttar Pradesh, Suresh Raina has been the cornerstone of Chennai Super Kings’ batting department right from the first season. Raina had been picked up by the south Indian franchise in the year 2008. Since then, he has donned the CSK jersey in every season that the yellow franchise has taken part in. Raina bats at the number 3 position for Chennai Super Kings unlike in the Indian team where he bats at a lower number. And, he has shown that he deserves to bat at number 3 in T20s. The vice-captain of Chennai knows the art of stabilizing the innings when the openers get out early while he also has the knowledge of capturing the momentum when the openers provide the team to a flier. He is the leading candidate from CSK to win the Orange Cap in IPL 2020. 2. Mumbai Indians – Quinton de Kock Quinton de Kock. (Photo: IANS) While the fans would expect Rohit Sharma to be the prime pick from Mumbai Indians to win the Orange Cap, there are two major reasons why Sharma may end up just behind his South African teammate. The first reason is that Rohit may down the order this year. With the trio of Suryakumar Yadav, Quinton de Kock and Chris Lynn present in the squad, it is likely that Rohit may consider dropping himself down to the number 4 position once again. He has achieved more success batting at that position so, that may reduce his runs scoring potential. Besides, Quinton de Kock will be under pressure to keep his place in the team because of competition from Chris Lynn and Ishan Kishan. Since de Kock is a player whose game improves under pressure, he is the number 1 choice from Mumbai to win the Orange Cap title. 3. Kings XI Punjab – KL Rahul KL Rahul. But, as the team could not make it to the playoffs in either of the seasons, Rahul did not have a chance of finishing the season on a high. The right-handed batsman was the shining star from Kings XI’s batting line-up and he was the main reason behind the success that Punjab achieved in the last two seasons. He has also made a solid case for himself in the Indian limited-overs team. Looking at his recent form and his performances in the previous two IPL tourneys, the Karnataka-born superstar stands as the leading candidate from his team to top the overall run-scorers’ charts in the 2020 edition of Indian Premier League. 4. Royal Challengers Bangalore – Virat Kohli Virat Kohli. In the year 2019, the fans saw a completely different avatar of Virat Kohli in the T20 arena. He looked more aggressive than ever. The Indian skipper had played two match-winning knocks for the Men in Blue in the 3-match T20I series against West Indies. He also settled his score with the West Indian pacer Kesrick Williams. With the T20 World Cup approaching, Kohli will try to use IPL 2020 as a platform. Since he will play more on the flat tracks at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the right-handed batsman has a major chance of finishing at the number one position in the Orange Cap’s race. Also, his teammate AB de Villiers will be in the fray to win this title. 5. Sunrisers Hyderabad – David Warner David Warner. The left-handed opener has a fantastic record in the IPL and, he has good knowledge about all the pitches where the IPL matches are played. His new opening partner, Jonny Bairstow had supported him to perfection in the previous IPL season. If the duo plays together in this IPL season and stays together for the full tournament then both Bairstow and Warner can score a mountain of runs. The Australian batsman has dominated all the Indian bowlers in the past besides, he will also get some practice ahead of the IPL during the ODI series against India. Hence, the Pocket Dynamo will be the frontrunner from SRH to win the Orange Cap. 6. Delhi Capitals – Rishabh Pant Rishabh Pant. Although he had made a name for himself while playing for Delhi at the domestic level, the left-handed batsman’s career took giant leaps after the IPL contract. Playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019, Pant had played a major role in the success that the team achieved. He was one of the pillars of the team whose swashbuckling batting performances had guided the Capitals to their first playoff appearance in many years. Delhi Capitals will expect Pant to repeat the same performance once again in IPL 2020 as he will have the back of Ajinkya Rahane and Shimron Hetmyer in the batting department this year. The 21-year-old will get more freedom to bat hence, he may win the Orange Cap. 7. Rajasthan Royals – Jos Buttler Rajasthan Royals’ Jos Buttler. Earlier, the Royals were known to get their innings off to a slow start with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Dravid at the top. However, the English wicket-keeper batsman has batted with an aggressive approach at the top. The right-handed batsman has got Rajasthan Royals off to fliers in the last two seasons. He has understood the Sawai Man Singh Stadium’s conditions very well. The Royals will rest their onus on the trio of Buttler, Ben Stokes and Steve Smith to score the runs in IPL 2020. Since Buttler at the topmost position in the batting order, he will have the highest chances of making it to the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard. 8. Kolkata Knight Riders – Shubman Gill Shubman Gill of Kolkata Knight Riders. Their team is stacked up with the big-hitters who can hit the ball out of the park right from ball one. But, Shubman Gill is the one who may anchor the innings for KKR in IPL 2020. Since he will play the most number of balls from the batting lineup of the Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise, Gill will have the maximum probability of topping the batsmen’s leaderboard from KKR. Also, he will target a place in the T20 World Cup of the Indian team. If the U-19 World Cup hero bats with supreme consistency in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, then he will have a realistic chance of punching his ticket to Australia in October. Besides, he will also look to improve his image after his dissent in Ranji Trophy 2019-20.
