Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi always looks in a hurry whenever he is on the field. No matter what the format is or what the situation is, the maverick all-rounder knew just one way of batting and that is to go all out right from ball one. And it looks like, he is not very different away from the cricket field too.
Off the field too, Afridi looks like a man in haste and his latest action on Twitter pretty much proves that. Afridi, on Thursday, accidentally announced that Shan Masood, and not him, will be the captain of Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020. While the other five franchises had confirmed their captains ahead of the upcoming season, there was some confusion over who would lead the Multan-based franchise.
A mistake from Shahid Afridi
On Thursday, Afridi ended all the speculations by confirming that Masood would take charge of the team. But while Afridi ended all the speculations regarding the captaincy of the team, he was not really supposed to do so. The star all-rounder revealed the news on Twitter, a day before the franchise owner Ali Tareen was to make the announcement himself.
“As a player and mentor, it makes me happy to see Multan Sultans believing in the local talent pool and giving SultansKaKaptaan to Shan Masood. He speaks well and is known for his fitness and discipline. I am wishing him all the best,” Afridi tweeted.

But minutes later, Tareen thanked Afridi for the tweet while also stating that the plan was for the franchise to make the announcement on Friday.
“Thank you, Lala, but we were going to reveal the captain tomorrow.😄,” wrote Tareen.

Afridi was then quick to admit his mistake and ended up posting a hilarious reply, writing: “Oops! Couldn’t control my self as People were so anxious on who is #SultankaKaptaan so I thought it’s give them some relief 🤣”
