PAK vs AUS: Waqar Younis, Simon Katich among confirmed commentators for historic series
This will be the first visit for an Australian cricket team to Pakistan since 1998.
The Pakistan Cricket Board media (PCB) page on Twitter confirmed the commentators and the presenters for the upcoming historic Tests between Pakistan and Australia. This is the first visit for an Australian cricket team to Pakistan since 1998 for a complete bilateral series and a lot of big names have been included in the commentary team for the series. Rob Key from England, Michael Kasprowicz and Simon Katich from Australia and Pakistan trio of Bazid Khan, Urooj Mumtaz and Waqar Younis are all set to form the commentary panel.
It is learnt that Katich will only be part of the Test series as the commentator while Kasprowicz will be making his debut as a commentator through the Pakistan tour. Coming to the presenters, Sikander Bakht and Zainab Abbas will be hosting the pre-and post-match shows for the series while Neroli Meadows will be available for the first two matches alone as a presenter. The bilateral series starts on March 4 and the three-match Test series will be followed by three-match ODIs and a one-off T20I.
Australia named a strong squad for the Test series
Not many big houses in world cricket have toured Pakistan for a bilateral series despite the country reemerging as a potential place for hosting international games. After the 2009 incident of a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan bus, cricket teams have been refrained from touring the country. South Africa toured the nation last year for a complete bilateral series while New Zealand and England opted out last year citing different reasons.
Pat Cummins will be leading the Australian Test side for the Pakistan Test tour and this will be only his second assignment as a full-time captain in the red-ball format for his country. The fast bowler has grown in heaps and bounds over the years and he managed to outclass the English side in the Ashes 2021-22 with a 4-0 victory. All eyes will be on the Australian side in terms of adapting to the Pakistan conditions and an exciting series is on hands.
