Pakistan can win if the Indian team is unable to handle pressure: Kapil Dev
Kapil Dev said that Men in Green has the ability to beat any team in the tournament.
India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns with each other for their campaign opener of the T20 World Cup on Sunday, October 24. The high-profile clash is much awaited as the cricketing fraternity has been raring to watch the action unfold. The former India captain Kapil Dev, however, feels that both sides will be under pressure and that it would be intriguing to watch which team handles it better.
The Babar Azam-led side has some impactful names in their sides. When it comes to T20, the team is one of the strongest sides. Kapil Dev shed light on these aspects and said that the Men in Green have the ability to beat any team in the tournament.
“On the field, such things [which team will dominate] don’t matter. Both teams will be under pressure, thus it will be interesting to see who will handle the pressure well. Although I don’t know much about them, still I would say that Pakistan is a dangerous team in T20, they can defeat anyone on a given day,” the former India captain said while speaking to ABP News.
The Indian team looks stronger, but Pakistan has a lot of unexpected players: Kapil Dev
Both the nations do not play against each other in any bilateral series owing to the political tensions between the nations. The last time India and Pakistan faced each other was two years back in the 2019 World Cup. The Virat Kohli-led side, however, has a dominating record against Pakistan in the ICC events.
Kapil Dev highlighted this and asserted that there would be uncertainty. He also added that Pakistan has quite a few unexpected players and though the Indian team looks strong on paper they will have to perform well under pressure.
“Both teams have not played against each other, so surely the uncertainty would be there. The Indian team looks stronger, but Pakistan has a lot of unexpected players. Although I feel India should not be worried about it. The only thing is to perform well under pressure. Pakistan can win this match also if the Indian team is unable to handle the pressure,” Kapil Dev added.
