Pakistan could clinch the World Cup title, feels Moin Khan

The World Cup 2019 is fast approaching. With just about eight months left for the mega-event, all the teams are already prepping up for the same. They are hunting down for the best possible combinations to be successful in England. Also, the former cricketers are passing on their judgements and Moin Khan has backed Pakistan to go all the way.

The former wicket-keeper opines that the conditions in England will be suitable for the team. The 47-year-old also backed skipper Sarfraz Ahmed after the recent failures. The Rawalpindi-born cricketer said that Sarfraz will be crucial for the team in the tournament next year.

Moin Khan opines Sarfraz is a wonderful player and leader

“I think Pakistan really has a good chance to clinch the title as conditions will be helpful for them in England,” the Express Tribune quoted Khan, as saying. These bold statements have come just after the recently concluded Asia Cup. Having gone into the tournament as one of the favourites, Pakistan cricket team didn’t have the best of times in the UAE.

They struggled both with the bat as well as the ball. Except for two or three players, most of the other players have failed to deliver. This has brought out severe criticism for the team. They were knocked out of the tournament in the super-four stage. Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed also had a disastrous tournament.

His captaincy lacked intent and he didn’t do any justice with the bat either. Hence, there were demands of sacking him as the skipper. But, Moin Khan said that Sarfraz is a wonderful player and a great leader. He further added that the skippers’ performance will be crucial in the World Cup next year.

“Sarfraz is a wonderful player and a good leader. He has to perform well in the upcoming World Cup. His performance in the tournament will be crucial for the team,” Khan concluded.
