Pakistan cricket mourned the death of the budding player Zubair Ahmed. The batsman was hit on the head by the bouncer on the 14th August, the Independence Day of Pakistan. Zubair was a part of the Fakhar Zaman Academy and was playing a club cricket match when the unfortunate incident happened. It was also reported that he wasn’t wearing a helmet while batting which allowed the ball to hit him on the head.

The passing of the youngster was condoled by many on the social media including Pakistani cricketers who expressed grief over the demise of the talented batsman. Ahmad Shahzad’s message particularly was heart touching as he mourned Zubair’s death by stating that they have lost a family member. Mohammad Hafeez and Kamran Akmal were among others who bemoaned the loss.

Hafeez and Pakistan Cricket Board, on their respective official Twitter handles, paid their condolences to his family and appealed to all the upcoming young cricketers to use proper gears and wear helmet while playing cricket.

Peshawar Zalmi to support Zubair’s family

Earlier today, it was revealed that the PSL franchise would extend their helping hands to Zubair’s family in these tough times for them. They also announced that his brother would be a part of the squad for the third season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

This gesture from Peshawar Zalmi has won many hearts and must have urged other people too come in support of the family.

The incident of a player dying after being hit on the head by the ball is not the first one. Aussies cricketer Phil Hughes died in a similar manner while playing a domestic match where he was hit by a bouncer bowled by Sean Abbott and collapsed on the ground despite wearing a helmet.
