Pakistan cricketer Abid Ali discharged from hospital after angioplasty, to undergo rehab
The 34-year-old was diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
In what can be called a delightful piece of news for Pakistan cricket fans, Abid Ali has been discharged from the hospital. The Pakistan Test opener was taken off the field as he complained about chest pain during a recent Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match. He was subsequently rushed to a hospital. It was later fond out that the 34-year-old has been diagnosed with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
The same was confirmed in a statement from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). As a result, the right-handed batter underwent two angioplasty procedures which fortunately were successful. His father revealed that the batter is feeling much better than before and is on the road to recovery.
The PCB has made arrangements for our accommodation: Abid Ali’s father
“His rehab program is for two weeks and will be checked up in Karachi. The PCB has made arrangements for our accommodation. We are grateful to all the friends who prayed for Abid’s recovery,” Abid’s father was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see when the 34-year-old can retake the field again. As per reports, doctors had told Abid he needed to take two months complete rest before he can resume his cricket career. “He has been advised to take a two month break after which they will assess him again,” the source was quoted as saying by NDTV.
PCB had also stated that its medical team is consulting cardiologists overseas for further treatment and rehabilitation. Fortunately, Abid is stable after going through a couple of angioplasty. For the unversed, it was the game between Central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where this incident took place. The opener was batting on 61 when he felt unrest was forced off the ground.
Meanwhile, Abid, who’s still pretty new in international cricket, has a plethora of experience behind him. In fact, the 34-year-old has over 9000 runs in First-Class cricket under his belt. While he might have made his international debut a bit late, he didn’t miss out on making a mark straightaway. The Lahore-based opener slammed hundreds in his debut ODI and Test, becoming the first batter in history to get the feat.
