In a noble initiative, Pakistan Post issued special stamps and a souvenir sheet to honour Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2017 victory over India earlier this year in England. Pakistan Post’s Treasury Officer Karachi Tariq Awan said that total 50,000 souvenir sheets and 300,000 stamps have been issued.

“The set of three stamps will cost Rs 30, while the souvenir sheets are priced at Rs 50 each,” Awan said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also put the stamp on their social media site Twitter and the post read: “ICC Champions Trophy 2017 winners Commemorative Stamps issued by Pakistan Post.”

In the final of the Champions Trophy 2017 at the Oval Pakistan defeated India by a huge margin of 180 to claim the first 50-over title after their World Cup victory in 1992.

The tournament had seen a remarkable comeback from Sarfraz Ahmed’s team since they lost the opening match to their arch-rivals India and won the final beating the same opponent.

Pakistan defeated India by 180 runs in the final

Pakistan batting first scored 338 for 4. On a flat track, opener Fakhar Zaman scored a brilliant hundred which laid the foundation for Pakistan’s victory before fast bowler Mohammad Amir pierced through the Indian batting line-up to bowl out India for 158 in the 30th over. Among the Indian batsman, only Hardik Pandya managed to score a fifty.

Before the beginning of the tournament nobody had given the Pakistan side a chance but following their heartbreaking defeat in the opening encounter, they made required changes and improvements to come back as a well-balanced unit.

With the inclusion of Fakhar Zaman and Hasan Ali, who won the Man of the Series award for his performance with the ball in hand, Pakistan had become a deadly side. On their way to the final, they defeated South Africa and Sri Lanka to march to the final. In the final, they were charged up because they got a rare chance to take a sweet revenge over their arch-rivals India.

After Pakistan’s victory against India Sarfraz Ahmed‘s team was given a grand honour at home.
