The storm just refuses to die down in Pakistan. Ever since the country’s national cricket team suffered a humiliating loss to arch-rivals India in the ongoing cricket World Cup at Old Trafford on June 16, harsh reactions have been flowing in relentlessly. Besides body shaming the captain of the team Sarfaraz Ahmed to dragging the family members of players who featured in the game to move the court seeking a ban on the team, there is no dearth of bizarre reactions.
And to add to the list, a lawyer in Okra in Pakistan’s Punjab province has filed a suit against Sarfaraz Ahmed seeking his arrest on return to the motherland on charges of bringing shame to the country with their loss versus India. One of the accusations against the captain was over his yawning during the match – a picture which has gone viral on the social media, PakPassion editor Saj Sadiq said in a tweet.

Pakistan suffered a heart-breaking loss against India
Sarfaraz came under heavy criticism after he won the toss and sent Virat Kohli’s India to bat first. Riding a mammoth 140 from opener Rohit Sharma and 77 from captain Kohli, India posted a huge total of 336 for 5 in 50 overs. The Pakistani bowlers failed to pick early wickets even under overcast conditions, putting Sarfaraz’s plan in jeopardy.
Pakistan then had a batting debacle, as well as a middle-order collapse, only saw their target rising and after a rain intervention, they were left to score 136 runs in just five overs which was never going to be feasible. Pakistan lost the match by 89 runs via DLS Method and hell broke loose. It was Pakistan’s seventh successive defeat to India at the cricket World Cup, starting since 1992.
Overall, Pakistan have had a terrible outing at the World Cup this year. Out of their five games, the result of only one went to their favour while they lost three and one was washed out. Sarfaraz’s men have everything to play for in their next game against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday. Whoever lose the game gets knocked out of the tournament.
