Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah accused of aiding in rape, harrasing a 14-year old girl
The veteran leg-spinner finds himself in hot waters.
In what can be called a major development, veteran Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has been accused of harassing and raping minor girls. A case has been registered against him at the Shalimar Police Station in Islamabad for allegedly aiding in the rape and harassment of a 14-year-old girl. In the first information report (FIR), the girl stated that the cricketer’s friend Farhan had raped her at gunpoint, harassed her, and filmed her ordeal.
Moreover, the girl further claimed that the leg-spinner had warned her to prepare for consequences if she approaches the authorities or file any complaint about the incident. Any news or report of the 35-year-old getting arrested hasn’t come out yet. Hence, it remains to be seen how this episode unfolds.
Minor girl made severe allegations against Yasir Shah
“When I approached Yasir on WhatsApp and told him about the incident, he made fun of me and said that he likes underage girls,” the complainant alleged in the FIR read as per Geo TV. “Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official […] Yasir Shah and Farhan make videos and rape underage girls,” she further alleged.
It was even claimed that Yasir proposed the girl to give her a flat and bear her expenses for the next 18 years when she approached the police. Meanwhile, Yasir, the fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets, was last seen during the Test series in West Indies earlier this year. He had to give the recently-concluded Bangladesh Tests a miss as he failed to recover from a thumb injury.
Meanwhile, Yasir has been a vital cog of the Pakistan Test team since a while. However, this saga could largely hamper his career. He’s expected to be summoned in the police station for further inquiry. If proven guilty, the 35-year-old might also be put behind the bars.
It must be noted that Pakistan are scheduled to tour Australia for three Test matches next year. The leg-spinner had made a mark when the side travelled down under the last time. Hence, he would have been a certain inclusion in normal conditions. However, these allegations meant Yasir now finds himself in hot waters.
