Pakistan cricket legend Hanif Mohammad has been hospitalised and is in the intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a hospital in Karachi. Hanif was hospitalised since he suffered breathing problems and congestion.
He was diagnosed with lung cancer three years ago and which has reportedly recurred. After the news of his illness reached the Pakistan government it has decided to bear all hospital costs and want to ensure that he gets well.
His son Shoaib was quoted by the Dawn saying that the cricketer had undergone a surgery in London for the Lung cancer and following it the disease was brought under control. Hanif went for a biopsy recently in London and the doctors observed that the cancer was spreading again with time and that chemotherapy wouldn’t be effective in the case. He urged the government for assistance to go for the more effective treatment.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a statement said that he will pray for the legend’s speedy recovery. “We will leave no stone unturned for treatment of Hanif Mohammad.” Sharif also acknowledged his contribution to Pakistan cricket and praised his role in promoting the sport in the country.

Earlier it was reported that Hanif had approached a few people after his health deteriorated but they weren’t kind enough to even answer his calls. “My son Shoaib has been calling everyone; Sindh’s Governor, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and his brother Shahbaz Sharif, but no one answered,” the Little Master had said.
“I consider myself an unfortunate person because of this,” he was quoted by tribune.com.pk.
Hanif Mohammad represented Pakistan in 55 Tests and scored 3,915 runs with a consistent average of 43.98. He also has the record for the highest individual Test score by a Pakistani to his name for his knock of 337.
