The Pakistan cricket team, after their unsuccessful World T20 2016 campaign where they failed to advance beyond the first round returned home. The team returned home to a hostile reception in Lahore and Karachi.

The players returned to Pakistan in batches at the Lahore and Karachi airport on Saturday night. Skipper Shahid Afridi couldn’t be spotted in the returning contingent and has been reported that he decided to stay back in Dubai for a few days.

Afridi is also expected to take a call on his retirement once he returns to Pakistan since he had said so after their last World T20 game.

A group of Pakistan players including the team manager Intikhab Alam, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Irfan, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz, Ahmed Shehzad and others were received with chants of “shame shame” when they arrived at the Allama Iqbal international airport in Lahore.

After what happened at the Lahore airport, the security arrangements were beefed up at the Quaid-e-Azam international airport in Karachi for the other lot including Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sharjeel Khan, Anwar Khan and others. They were escorted by the security from the arrival terminal to their cars.

It wasn’t a surprise since that is a typical response of the cricket-crazy Pakistan fans who love the sport and have never settled for anything less than a victory. More so for their displeasure, the team also lost to India in the contest which is their 11th loss in World Cups to the arch-rivals.
