Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India to lay their hands upon the prestigious trophy for the first time in their history. Along with the trophy, they earned themselves an amount of Rs 230 million which is $2,200,000. The ICC has now presented the PCB with the money without any tax cuts.
The received money will be divided into 17 parts. 16 parts will go to the 16 players who represented Pakistan in the tournament while the last part will be handed over to the team management. According to a rough assessment, every player will receive Rs 13.5 million while each member of the team management may get Rs10,00,000 each.
There is good news for Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz, who had to return to the country falling victim to an injury in the first match. A part of the prize money will also be given to Riaz for his contributions, even if it is very little.
Apart from the lucrative reward from the ICC, the players are set to receive 10m from the Prime Minister of Pakistan, also the Patron of PCB for tasting outstanding success in the tournament.
Many of the players who starred in their extraordinary campaign have received gifts and hefty amounts from various organisations for their valiant display.
Pakistan went into the ICC Champions Trophy as the lowest ranked team. But Sarfraz Khan and his boys silenced their critics in the most appropriate way. Khan became the second captain in the history of Pakistan to lift an ICC trophy after the legendary Imran Khan won the ICC World Cup for the country in the year of 1992. Pakistan’s win will always be remembered because it came over India, their biggest rivals.
