Pakistan set for a limited-overs tour of New Zealand in 2018
The two teams will faceoff in ODI series followed by a T20I series as well
The Pakistan cricket team is scheduled to fly off for a tough tour to New Zealand early in January 2018. They had toured the country for a Test series in 2016 and lost both the matches; this is a limited-overs tour where Pakistan will play 5 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 3 Twenty20 Internationals. Ahead of the start of the series, the visitors will also play a warm-up game against New Zealand XI.
For the 25-day tour, they will play a 50-over practice game on 3rd January while the last match of the tour is slated to be played on January 28. New Zealand have always dominated visiting teams in their own backyard and Pakistan’s record in the country is a reflection of the same.
The Asian team has played 44 ODIs in the land of the Black Caps and won 15 matches while they faced defeat on 26 of those occasions. The record in the shortest format of the game also tilts in favour of the hosts as the two teams have met in 6 T20Is and Kiwis took the honours in 4 and the Men in Green won a couple of games.
Sarfraz Ahmed’s team has been in prime form in limited-overs cricket ever since their scintillating victory in the Champions Trophy 2019. It is an inspired bunch and wouldn’t really care what the past record says, they believe in their abilities and under Mickey Arthur will back their skills to give the Black Caps a tough time in the series.
