Pakistan top order batsman Babar Azam has taken great strides in his international career ever since his foray. Azam has made a name for himself as a major prospect for Pakistan cricket in a relatively short span of time. However, the youngster, who is currently ranked the number one T20I batsman has not been able to exhibit the same level of success in the game’s longest format- Test cricket.
Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, however, showed confidence in him and gave the Azam 10/10 ratings after his strong showing in international cricket. Speaking to cricket analyst Ramiz Raja, Ahmed was quoted saying by a recorder, “I believe that he (Babar Azam) doesn’t play his natural game in Test cricket. I always talk to him saying play according to your game, attack when you get the deliveries as it will give you confidence.”
Sarfaraz also talked about other teammates and gave full points to fast bowler Hasan Ali and leg-spinner Shadab Khan, praising the bowling duo for their rapid rise in a short time.
Pakistan’s UK tour details
The Men in Green are currently playing Ireland in a one-off Test, they’re first ever red-ball fixture after receiving the status from ICC last year. Pakistan currently sits in the driver’s seat after putting the hosts to follow on after their shambolic batting display in the first innings.
However, Ireland pulled back the string to come back strong in the second. At the end of Day 4, the hosts have managed to establish a lead of 139 runs, courtesy of a scintillating century from Kevin O’Brien. And with the century maker still at the crease, the hosts can fancy their chance of a comeback.
After the culmination of the ongoing one-off Test, Pakistan will play two Tests against England at Lord’s from May 24 to May 28 and Headingley from June 1 to June 5.
