Pakistan has retained their numero uno spot in the latest T20 International rankings announced by the ICC. They whitewashed Windies in the recently concluded three-match series in the shortest format of the game and are now sitting pretty at the number 1 position. This was their seventh consecutive series win in the T20Is and are only going strong from here. However, the Men in Green would love to continue in the same vein and take this momentum into the other formats as well.
Pakistan cricket is in happy space currently with their leader Sarfraz Ahmed doing the job perfectly for the team even as the action is returning to their country slowly but steadily. Though Windies failed to compete against them in the last three matches, it was a brave step them in order to help PCB revive international cricket in the country. They definitely won the hearts of everyone with their gesture.
What about other teams?
Pakistan is enjoying a four-point lead over Australia who are at the second position with 126 points to their name after winning the Trans-Tasman T20I tri-series against New Zealand and England. India is placed third only two points behind the team from down under with 124 points. They were benefitted after winning Nidahas Trophy which was held in Sri Lanka recently. Windies and South Africa are tied on 111 points but the latter side is just ahead and has bagged the sixth place in the T20I rankings.
New Zealand and England are ranked fourth and fifth respectively with 116 and 114 points. There is a stark difference between the top 3 teams and the other teams which is quite rare in T20Is. Sri Lanka is way behind of all with only 89 points to their name at the 8th position. They are a whopping 22 points adrift of the seventh-placed Windies side who are also the champions in the format.
