Majority of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are unhappy with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for supporting the newly formed T10 Cricket League, which will have teams from India and Sri Lanka alongside the Pakistani teams in Sharjah.

The point of view that these franchises hold addresses the fact that PCB should not support a project, which is daringly close to theirs and which is capable of jeopardising the league. Pakistan’s domestic T20 league has grown into a much bigger tournament since the start and promises to be one of the most prominent in the world provided they can keep corruption at bay.

“We have conveyed this to chairman PCB Najam Sethi previously, and we are planning to do that again,” said an official of a franchise on condition of anonymity.

Sources close to Geo.tv said that there were at least three PSL teams, who are displeased with PCB’s change of mind towards the T10 League. PCB earlier had said that it would not allow the Pakistan international players to participate in the league.

The issue with Karachi Kings

However, on the contrary, one of the PSL franchise is now among the stakeholders of the league, which has caused friction among the teams. There are also franchises like Karachi Kings who claim that the team owners of PSL do not have a problem with the newly formed league.

“We didn’t want a league where Pakistani players participate without the involvement of Pakistani owners, now Pakistani owners are there, so we are okay with the league, as are the other franchise,” claimed the official of Karachi Kings.

It has been reported that in the letter to Sethi, there was an included consent from the Karachi Kings officials which they have denied blatantly now. They had requested that Pakistan players must not take part in the tournament.

“It was understood earlier that Pakistani players will not take part in the league and PCB will not support the idea, the sudden change of mind is astonishing,” said another franchise.
