Since its first edition in 2016, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has gone on to become one of the most prominent leagues in the world, bringing local talent with international stars at the same field. The league has provided a platform for young players to shine and display their talents.
Islamabad United made history as the inaugural PSL champions in 2016, defeating Quetta Gladiators. Over the years, they have become the league’s most successful team, claiming titles in 2016, 2018, and 2024. In the most recent final, they outplayed Multan Sultans by two wickets to secure their third championship title.
Each PSL season has become better than the previous edition, in terms of the quality of cricketers taking part in it. Peshawar Zalmi claimed their maiden title in 2017, Quetta Gladiators won in 2019, while Karachi Kings lifted the trophy in 2020. Multan Sultans joined the champions' list in 2021 with a dominating performance against Peshawar Zalmi. Lahore Qalandars, under Shaheen Afridi’s leadership, brought glory with back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, narrowly defeating Multan Sultans in the finals in 2023. Notably, these young PSL stars have gone on to represent their national sides and contributed significantly at the international level, too.
