In a regional inter-district Under-19 match in Karachi, Pakistan Mohammad Ali a young right-arm fast bowler achieved the rare feat of bowling out the opposition all by himself. Playing for Zone III against Zone VII in a two-day match at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi Ali took all the ten wickets to help his team to a massive victory by an innings and 195 runs.
What makes his exploits even more special is the fact that Ali needed just 9 overs to run through the entire Zone VII batting line-up and as an evidence of how unplayable he proved to be is that he conceded just 12 runs in his spell. In the match Zone III skipper Imran Shah won the toss and asked their opponents to bat first.
Openers Sufyan Shahid and Muhammad Rehman were both out for 0 and 3 respectively. After such a bad start the Zone VII team could never recover Ali sent them all back to the hut one after the other and the first innings just crumbled for 23 runs and they were all out in a matter of 17.2 overs. Another admirable feature was that nine out of the ten dismissals for Ali were bowled and a solitary leg before wicket which was opener Rehman.
In their reply, Zone III declared their innings with 290 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 53 overs. Their No. 4 batsman Afnan Karim top scored with an unbeaten 122 off 106 balls with the help of 18 fours and a couple of sixes. Opener Zaryab Umair also scored a half century and was dismissed for 68. By the close of play on day 2 they were declared the winners by an innings margin.
