Pakistan are scheduled to tour Australia for a two-Test and three-T20I series in November later this year and it will be a part of the ICC World Test championship. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that one of the two Tests to be played in the series in Adelaide will be a day-night affair featuring the pink ball.

According to reports, the day-night Test is confirmed and the two teams will play their second game in Adelaide under the lights. Australia will thereby feature in two consecutive day-night Tests as their opening Test against New Zealand in the following three-game series in December-January in Perth will also be a pink-ball affair.

Talks were also held to include another Test in the series but it didn’t happen

According to the Herald, Cricket Australia (CA) and the PCB held talks over the past few weeks with regards to the Adelaide Test. There were also talks of accommodating another Test match in the series but was not eventually feasible since the Aussies have a packed schedule.

Pakistan had last toured Down Under in 2016-17 for a three-match Test series and were beaten comprehensively 3-0. Their last series played in the UAE in October 2018, however, saw Pakistan winning 1-0. Recently, Australia crushed the Asian team 5-0 in a home series.

It is believed that the delay in giving confirmation about the pink ball Test was linked to the Pakistan board’s desire that Australia play their team in the future. However, a PCB source later clarified that it was not the case.

“The dialogue between CA and the PCB was around what we would need to do to make that tour happen,” PCB managing director Wasim Khan was quoted as saying by the Herald.

“We also know there’s a lot of bilateral cricket to be played before that. We need to continue to evidence security measures we can put in place. All things being well we can pick up dialogue in early 2022.”
