Sri Lanka produced one of the greatest turnarounds in Test cricket as they successfully defended the target of 136 runs they set in front of the hosts Pakistan. The Lankans lost their last six wickets in the opening session on the final day adding 59 more runs to their overnight score of 69/4. The veteran left-arm spinner Rangana Herath produced yet another magical bowling performance by taking six wickets and restricted the home side to just 114.

0 – Number of Pakistan players who have won their first match as captain in all the three formats. Sarfraz Ahmed won in his first match as captain in ODIs and T20Is but failed to win this game, which was his maiden Test as captain.
1 – Rangana Herath became the first left-arm spinner to take 400 wickets in Test cricket. He is the 14th player overall and the 2nd Sri Lankan after Muttiah Muralitharan to take 400 Test wickets.
1 – This is the first time Pakistan lost a Test match at Abu Dhabi. They have played nine Tests before this game with five wins and four draws.
9 – Number of ten-wicket match hauls for Rangana Herath in Test cricket. These are the joint 3rd most for any player in this format. This is the 2nd time he has taken ten wickets in a Test against Pakistan.
33 – Number of five-wicket hauls Herath owns in Test cricket. These are the 5th most five-fers by any player in this format. Eight of those five-fers have come against Pakistan which is the most by any player.
100 – The veteran became the 4th player to take 100 wickets in the 4th innings in Tests. He has 11 five-wicket hauls in the 4th innings which is the most for any player.
101 – Number of wickets Herath has taken against Pakistan in Tests. He is the first player to take 100 Test wickets against Pakistan. The previous most wickets by a player against Pakistan was India’s Kapil Dev who picked 99.
136 – The target of 136 runs is the lowest Sri Lanka have defended successfully in Test cricket and also the lowest Pakistan have failed to chase. Previously, the had failed to chase 146 against South Africa in 1997 while Sri Lanka defended 168 against Pakistan in 2009.
2004 – The last time before this Test match, a team successfully defended a total of 136 and lower in Test cricket was 107 by India against Australia in 2004 at Mumbai.
