Pakistan vs Australia: Junaid Khan delighted after Mohammad Hafeez gets picked for Test series
Hafeez last played in Tests in August 2016.
Pakistan is all set to lock horns against Australia in the upcoming two-match Test series starting from October 7 in Dubai. The selection panel led by Inzamam-ul-Haq announced the squad a few days ago which didn’t have Mohammad Hafeez. But on Monday, the cricketer was added to the team in order to threaten the left-handers of the tourists and will soon join the squad in Dubai ahead of the series opener.
Hafeez wasn’t the part of the Asia Cup squad which failed to make it to the final recently. Pakistan, who were touted as the favourites to lift the title, could only win a couple of matches against Hong Kong and Afghanistan. They were humbled twice by India and once by Bangladesh to get knocked out from the tournament. All the eyes are now on their show in the Test series and surely, the cricketers will be under pressure to perform.
Meanwhile, Junaid Khan has expressed his delight over the selection of Mohammad Hafeez and hoped that he does well in his tweet for the veteran. “Congratulations @MHafeez22 bhai on being selected for the test series inshallah hoping to see you perform well #PakvsAus,” he tweeted.
Here’s his tweet:
Same story of Junaid and Hafeez
Junaid Khan and Hafeez are somewhat sailing in the same boat. Both of them were ignored during the Asia Cup. The only difference was the former was the part of the squad and Hafeez not. Junaid got the opportunity in the last Super Four game against Bangladesh which was a must-win game for his team. The left-arm pacer gave his everything in the encounter and returned with the impressive figures of 4/19. Unfortunately, his team lost while chasing the total thanks to their batsmen’s failure.
After Asia Cup ouster, the questions of not picking Junaid in the earlier matches were raised and also a decision to drop Hafeez came under the scanner.
