After sensationally saving the first Test by batting out 140 overs, Australia are struggling in the ongoing decider in Abu Dhabi. While everyone had expected to fare them much better after a heroic effort, the batsmen have succumbed in the first innings once again. Surprisingly, Mohammad Abbas is the wrecker-in-chief for them like the first Test who has taken the top four wickets of their innings. Michael Vaughan is left overawed with his bowling and has showered praises on the medium pace bowler.
Abbas has been a real find for Pakistan over the last 18 months. Despite not having express pace, he has troubled the best in the business time and again. Aussies are supposed to be the better players of the fast bowling, but Abbas’ tight line and length has kept on the tenterhooks all the time. On the first day, he also became the joint second fastest to fifty Test wickets for his country playing only in the 10th match.
On the second morning, the 28-year-old started off by picking Shaun Marsh whose woes continue in Asia and then trapped Travis Head who was playing the spinners really well. His figures currently read 4/29 after sending down 11 overs which is just superb.
Vaughan in awe of Abbas
Michael Vaughan was simply in awe of Mohammad Abbas and his bowling. He also went on to admit that Abbas would’ve got him out within six balls every time during his playing days and lauded the effort the bowler was putting in. “Having watched Mohammad Abbas now for over a year … I have decided he would get me out every time within about 6 balls … The type of bowler I would poop my pants about … Thought I would let you all know … #PAKvAUS,” Vaughan’s tweet read.
Abbas had impressed in the recent England tour as well and ended the two-match series a the leading wicket-taker. He scalped 10 wickets in the series with a couple of four-wicket hauls to his name.
Here’s Vaughan’s tweet:
