Sri Lanka finally got a win on the tour of Pakistan as they defeated the hosts by a huge margin the 1st game of the 3-match T20I series. Danushka Gunathilaka’s 38-ball 57 was backed by a couple of 30s from the top-order. They failed to capitalize on the quick start and settled down with 165/5. Some good bowling from Sri Lankan pacers rattled Pakistan’s top-order who were never comfortable in the chase after that. They eventually got bowled out for only 101; their lowest T20I total ever at home.

All the statistical highlights from Sri Lanka’s first win in the ongoing tour of Pakistan:

A rare win over Pakistan for the Lankans:

They lost successive ODI/T20I matches in this span against Pakistan (8 ODIs and 6 T20Is).

1 – Pakistan lost a T20I in Pakistan while chasing a target for the first time. They won all their previous four home T20Is while chasing. In fact, Pakistan had a 9-1 record in the 10 T20Is they played in Pakistan.

Not a great comeback for Akmal:

9 – Umar Akmal now has bagged a most number of ducks among Pakistan players in T20I cricket surpassing Shahid Afridi’s 8 ducks. Akmal’s nine ducks are the joint 2nd most by any player. He is only behind Tillakaratne Dilshan who got out for a duck on ten occasions in T20Is.

26 – Number of ducks Umar Akmal has bagged in Twenty20 cricket; the joint 2nd most for any player in this format. Dwayne Smith tops the list with 28 ducks while Chris Gayle also has 26 ducks. Umar went past his elder brother Kamran Akmal’s tally of 25 ducks.

Hasnain takes a hat-trick:

2 – Mohammad Hasnain became only the 2nd Pakistan player and overall the 8th player to take a T20I hat-trick. Faheem Ashraf became the first during the 2017 Abu Dhabi T20I also against Sri Lanka.
