The Champions Trophy has eluded the hands of Pakistani skippers over a decade after they have failed to finish off the close matches only to be left to rue their poor decisions. The team is now settled in Birmingham and are focusing on the jewel crown that has evaded their trophy cabinet.

Pakistan’s young batsman Fakhar Zaman feels that the side in green is all ready to have a good kickstart to the tournament and the team is all set to give their best in the eight-team tournament.

“Everyone is looking forward to the tournament. For me, personally, it’s the first big tournament and I am aiming to give my best,” Fakhar told Geo.tv.

“We have been practicing hard since we arrived here, indoors and outdoors, we are well prepared and looking forward to the tournament,” he further added.

The Big-Clash

While Virat Kohli and co are taking the match like any other match in the tournament, their counterparts are rather excited heavily about the mouth-watering encounter against arch-rivals India.

“Every player of the team is excited for the match against India, it’s a big game and the boys want to win this match,” he said while promising to give his best if given a chance in Pakistan’s opening encounter in the eight-team tournament.

“I want to give my best in the match; everyone wants to perform against India. I don’t have any particular bowler as my target and I will play every ball according to merit,” the left-hander said.

Help from Kiwi batsman Brendon McCullum:

The 27-year-old further warned the Indian bowlers that any bad deliveries from their end would be punished and they would have to pay heavily for the mistakes. He also said that it was under the tutelage of Brendon McCullum that helped the left-hander improve his technique.

Fakhar concluded the conversation with Geo TV by saying that he was ready for some ‘dama dam mast qalandar’ in ICC’s Champions Trophy, that starts on June 1 in England.
