Pakistan cricket has always found ways to be in the cricket news. Much to the disliking of the fans and the administrators, not all headlines are good ones. Among the infamous ones, the ones revolving around spot fixing are very prominent. Recently, cricketer Shahzaib Hasan has been banned for a year following his involvement in the spot fixing scandal last year.

Shahzaib Hasan was plying his trade for the Karachi Kings team in the 2017 edition of the Pakistan Super League. His name surfaced the media on March 17 last year, following which, he was suspended with immediate effect. And now, as per the recent reports in The News, Hasan has been handed a hefty fine of Rupees 1 million.

Furthermore, he has been banned for a year following his involvement in the spot fixing case. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is showing very stern measures against the ones who are violating the code of conduct. They have opted for a stricter policy against such violations in the recent times. Even the PCB Chief Najam Sethi has directly quoted that the implications of being involved in such practices would mean harsh impositions.

Shahzaib Hasan found guilty

Talking about Shahzaib Hasan, he was given a chargesheete by the Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) of the PCB for his involvement in spot fixing on three counts. He was held guilty of trying to lure other cricketers in to the scam. Also, he was found guilty of not informing the officials about the illegal approaches made to him.

Last year, a couple of days after the Pakistan Super League had commenced, the league came under the scanner for spot fixing reports. Popular names like Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan were summoned to Pakistan rightaway.

Later, other big names like Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Irfan also surfaced the media. While Jamshed was found to be the king pin in the infamous gate, Irfan found a let off citing the fact that he reported the approaches made to him to the officials.
