Pakistan batsman Babar Azam recently saw his ranking in Tests jumping to the career-best six from 15, thanks to his top form in the format of late. While the 25-year-old batsman slammed 104 and 97 against Australia Down Under, he backed them up with two back-to-back tons against Sri Lanka at home. Apart from Babar, Player of the Series Abid Ali also hit two consecutive centuries against Sri Lanka to help his country win 1-0.

However, apart from the cricketing headlines, Babar also made the headlines for another reason and it is because of his charitable gesture towards Pakistani game-show host Fahad Mustafa. Pakistan’s T20I captain had dinner with Fahad at his house before gifting him a bat.

The 36-year-old TV personality who hosts the show ‘Jeeto Pakistan’, posted a picture on Twitter of Babar handing him the gift. Babar, as it has been known from former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur, is a man with a generous heart as he hands over his earnings and gifts to members of his family as well.

Babar Azam makes historic Test series at home memorable

Babar, who was one of the few Pakistan fighters in the Test series against Australia, made the historic home series against the Lankans a memorable one with his solid batting performance (one fifty as well besides the two centuries). Pakistan hosted a Test series at home after over a decade as it had remained sidelined an international venue after the 2009 terror attacks. Babar, who made his Test debut in 2016, got to play his debut game at home only recently.

As captain, however, Babar had a tough start as his side lost to Australia 0-2 in the T20Is in their den. Babar, who averaged 262 in the recent Test series, is now the best-ranked Pakistan batsman in Tests. The next best is Asad Shafiq who is at No.20. He is ranked No.3 in the ODIs and No.1 in the T20Is, respectively. He is captaining Central Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final against Northern in Karachi that started on Friday.
