Pakistan is currently playing against Australia in the 2nd Test at Adelaide. But the visitors have failed to leave a mark in the on-going match. In the 2nd game of the series, the Men in Green bowlers looked clueless and allowed the hosts’ batsmen to pile a mammoth total of 589 at the loss of three wickets. Their bowling unit received a lot of criticism from the former cricketing greats. Now, Ricky Ponting, the assistant coach of the Australian squad has come out with a strong opinion on Pakistan’s bowlers.
David Warner stole the show at Adelaide and played an instrumental knock of 335* runs before Tim Paine surprisingly declared the innings. Before calling the declaration by the Aussi skipper, the left-handed opener had shattered many records. One big record that he broke was of Sir Don Bradman by registering the highest score in Test cricket as an Australian cricketer.
Ricky Ponting cannot understand why Naseem Shah is not playing in the 2nd Test
After Day 2, Ricky Ponting said that Pakistan’s bowling unit gave very bad performances on both days. Their bowling line up attack is very poor for Test cricket. As per him, this is the worse bowling attack he has seen since long. In further explanation, he stated that the bowlers they have picked for this tour are very inexperienced. Ponting couldn’t understand why they dropped Naseem Shah from the playing XI and picked a bowler (Muhammad Musa), who doesn’t look like a Test bowler.
“They’ve been poor. They’re undermanned. Their bowling attack is really poor for a Test attack. I’m not sure if I’ve seen a worse bowling attack on our shores for a long time and I’m not being critical, that’s just what they’ve got.
“The guys thay they’ve decided to pick for this tour.. I still don’t understand why the 16-year-old (Naseem Shah) hasn’t played this game. I’m not hearing any injury reports or anything (on him). They’ve gone with another guy (Muhammad Musa) who has played seven first-class games and doesn’t look like a Test match bowler. So, yeah, they haven’t got much caddle.” Ponting told cricket.com.au.
Apart from the in-form Warner, Marnus Labuschagne also played a brilliant knock of 162 runs. At the end of Day 2, Pakistan was left struggling at a score of 96 for six wickets with only Babar Azam looked in touch with the bat, who was playing at 47 runs before day’s game ended.
