Pakistani All-rounder Imad Wasim has gone higher up on the ICC points table and now occupies the No. 2 spot in the ICC T20 Bowling rankings after Pakistan got the better of West Indies 3-1. Imad climbed up two places to fit in the second position, and he is only 15 points behind number-one ranked Imran Tahir.
With a couple of match-winning performances in his very short limited-overs career, the 27-year old is repaying the faith put in him by the team management in the shortest format of the game.
Young spin sensation Shadab Khan broke through to the 117th position after he won the man-of-the-series for his great performance against the Windies. He was the most successful bowler in the series with 10 wickets.
It has been a swift upgrade to international cricket for Shadab. All of 18, the legspinner has already bagged two Man of the Match awards from three games, while, as mentioned before, helping his side win the first two matches of the Twenty20 International series against West Indies. Returning with figures of 3 for 7 on his debut at the Kensington Oval, he repeated success by recording 4 for 14 at the Queen’s Park Oval in the next game. Meanwhile, Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz rose three places to reach the 40th spot.
In the Pakistani batting department, Babar Azam, who was the highest scorer in the four-match T20 series with 137 runs, rocketed 41 places to a 27th position. Ahmad Shahzad, after making his comeback to the national colours with an impressive performance in the PSL, went up five places to 29th. Shoaib Malik saw a rise by three places to 34th.
With so many rises made by the men in green, Pakistan can well be a team to look out for in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in June in England.
