Pakistan were having a great time dominating the hosts in the summer of 96′ in England. After winning the first Test by 164 runs, Pakistan drew the second Test at Leeds after scoring 448 runs in the first innings.

Batting first, the hosts clawed their way to a respectable total of 326 largely owing to John Crawley’s 106. Wasim and Waqar again led the demolition with 7 wickets between them. In reply, Pakistan piled 521 for 8 wickets riding on tons by Saeed Anwar (176) and Saleem Malik (100*).

Trailing by a huge margin of 195 runs, England were off to a strong start but Mushtaq Ahmed again led the attack from front picking up the first 5 wickets as England were reduced from 166/2 to 242 all out. The Pakistani batsmen chased down the 48-run target in 6.1 overs to win the 3-match series 2-0 with Mushtaq Ahmed being named both Player of the Match as well as the Player of the Series.
