Hardik Pandya, the Indian all-rounder, is in the middle of a rough patch as far as his cricketing career is concerned. The 25-year-old made some sexist remarks on the Karan Johar-hosted Koffee With Karan after which he has received a lot of flak from the cricketing fraternity and the general supporters. He was handed an indefinite suspension by the Committee of Administrators (CoA), headed by Vinod Rai.
Subsequently, the Baroda cricketer and KL Rahul, who was also a part of the talk-show, aired on Sunday, January 6, were sent back home midway from the Australia tour and to add to their agony, their chances of participation in the World Cup, starting in May, has also come under the clouds. Recently, the tainted duo tendered an unconditional apology to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) show-cause notice.
They are responsible people and are human beings
Recently, Himanshu Pandya, Hardik’s father, said that his son hasn’t stepped out of his home after returning home. In the meantime, Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricketer, has backed them, saying that they aren’t ‘machines’ and are under pressure, being role models. Moreover, Ganguly, one of India’s most successful captain, remarked that Pandya and Rahul would be better individuals.
“People make mistakes. Let’s not get too far into that and I’m sure whoever has done it will realise and will come out as a better person. We are all human beings, we are not machines that everything you put in comes out perfect. So you’ve got to live life and let others live,” Ganguly was quoted as saying in BBC News.
They are responsible people and are human beings. They may be role models, but they are under pressure all the time to perform. Certain things happen and like everyone we should move on and ensure that it doesn’t happen again,” the 46-year-old added.
