Pankaj Arjan Advani landed himself into some controversy after winning the Asian Team Snooker Championship 2017. The professional English Billiards player took to Twitter to express his happiness after laying his hands on the title.
But his tweet did not go down well with cricket fans all over the world and the Twitteratti blasted the Padma Shri winner. Advani, in his tweet, posted a few photos with his teammates and the trophy to give everyone a hint of the proud moment. He captioned the picture saying that they are not the children of God, nor they are cricketers, but they are the winner of the Asian Team Snooker Championship.
His tweet read “We r not demigods, we r not cricketers.. We r the Asian Team Snooker Champions 2017 What a feeling!”.

The reaction:
Probably, what the established sports professional tried to convey is that cricketers are not the only ones to win trophies in India, but the Twitteratti wasted no time in slamming Advani for his comment. Tweets rocketed towards him and he was subjected to criticism for taking a subtle dig at the cricketers. While some blamed him for insulting fellow sportsmen who represent the country, some advised him to hold the authorities responsible. People also labelled this as an act of immaturity from the senior sports star.
However, there were a few people who came in support of Advani and agreed with him. Some people acknowledged his tweet and admitted to the fact that cricket is the only celebrated sport in the country. There was also a group which hoped for the proper recognition of Advani’s achievement.
India defeated Pakistan to lift the Asian Team Snooker Championship 2017. After India’s horrific loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final this also worked as a consolation for some fans. Here are all the tweets related to the incident:
Congratulations! But what take a dig at cricketers? They're your fellow sportsmen and represent India the same way you do.

Taking a dig because cue sports and @PankajAdvani247 do not get the recognition and rewards for representing the country..

Cricket reference could have been avoided. Immature. Congrats nonetheless.

Congratulations! Why that intended sarcasm? They too represent this very flag! Doesn't even seem like the reason for tweeting was the win!
