Cricketers and their love affair with movies is a match made in heaven. Many present-day cricketers like Virat Kohli can often be seen posting on the social media after watching a new movie, letting the world know of their preferences. Recently, it was Parthiv Patel who took to micro-blogging platform Twitter to express his opinion about the newly released movie ‘Badhaai Ho’.
33-year old Patel has been representing the Indian cricket team since 2002 when he made his Test debut against England at a young age of 17. Predominantly a top-order batsman, Patel has long established himself as a reliable wicket-keeper for the side. However, he’s not had as consistent a career as many would have hoped for him to have.
Parthiv Patel loved ‘Badhaai Ho’
Of late, several Hindi movies with socio-economic plots have been doing well at the Box Office and ‘Badhaai Ho’ recently joined the list. A story about a middle-class family of the Indian suburbs, the movie revolves around the consequences of a middle-aged woman becoming a mother. The film features Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role. Parthiv Patel, who watched the movie recently, seemed to be blown away by Khurrana’s performance and tweeted about the same, lauding the movie.
On the professional front, Patel has had a roller coaster ride through the years in the national team. From being a permanent fixture in the Indian side as a batsman-wicketkeeper, Patel had to sit out for an extended time period as MS Dhoni made it to the team and rose through the ranks. He’s played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) consistently through the years for a variety of teams like the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Currently, Patel seems to be on the verge of making a comeback in the upcoming Test series against Australia. Since the regular Test wicket-keeper, Wriddhiman Saha looks doubtful for the series owing to an injury, Patel is in contention for making it back to the team.
Here’s what Parthiv Patel had to say about the movie:
And saw #BadhaaiHo …very very entertaining movie…great job again bro @ayushmannk …
