Parthiv Patel is playing in IPL despite his father's serious condition
Parthiv, at the moment, is travelling home after almost every game and then again joins the team the very next day.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are not having a great run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the moment. They have lost all the six matches so far and are being trolled a lot on social media. But many will respect their wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel after the way he is handling the things amidst turmoil in his personal life. Parthiv’s father has been hospitalised in his hometown Ahmedabad after a brain haemorrhage and he almost daily fears of getting bad news from the doctors.
Before the start of the IPL, the left-hander had shared his father’s medical condition on Twitter and had requested the followers to keep in their prayers. Moreover, with his father Ajay being serious, he had also contemplated skipping the tournament. But he always wanted Parthiv Patel to play and not sit at home.
Here’s his earlier tweet:
Ajay Patel’s condition hasn’t got any better since last two months and is still in the ICU. He keeps slipping in and out of coma.
“I just hope and pray that there is no bad news from the doctors. When I am playing, nothing crosses my mind, but once a game is over, my heart is at home. The day begins with asking about my father’s progress, keeping in touch with doctors, sometimes I have to take some important decisions.
“My wife and mother are at home but when it comes to taking any final decision, my approval is sought. The initial phase was critical – should we switch off the ventilator for a few days, or how much oxygen should be given. Such decisions are very tough to take,” he said while speaking to Indian Express.
Family takes decisions some times
Though Parthiv Patel’s approval is sought most of the times, his family takes care on match days to let the cricketer concentrate on his game. “On match days, there have been several times when my family has taken decisions and let me know only after the game. They don’t want to distract me. It takes a mental toll but what can one do? Honestly, there were some negative thoughts before but now the family is prepared for the struggle we are going through,” he further added.
