Parthiv Patel looks forward to playing under Virat Kohli
The southpaw will rejoin RCB in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
Parthiv Patel made his international debut way back in 2002 against England. However, he hasn’t quite been able to cement his spot in the national team, owing to inconstant performances and emergence of cricketers like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, he made a comeback in India’s home Test series against England in 2016.
Nevertheless, he went out of the radar of India’s selection thereafter. Nevertheless, he was recently included in India’s Test squad for the tour of South Africa in which couldn’t quite deliver under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, he grabbed a lucrative deal in the Indian Premier League where he was bagged by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 1.7 crores in the recently concluded IPL Auction.
Appreciation for Virat from Parthiv
The Gujarat cricketer heaped praises on Virat Kohli’s leadership abilities in a recent interaction with the media. “Virat brings a huge amount of positivity into the team and to the dressing-room. He always leads by example and the team rallies around him,” Parthiv was quoted as saying to Times of India (TOI). The wicket-keeper batsman also emphasized the nature of the wicket in the third Test at Johannesburg.
“I thought I kept well on that difficult wicket in the third Test at Johannesburg where the ball was keeping up and down. I also showed a lot of character by opening the innings (in the second essay) and tried to contribute as much as I could both as a batsman and keeper,” he added
Parthiv Patel has represented six teams in the Indian Premier League thus far. He was an integral element of the Mumbai Indians squad as he mostly opened the batting and took his team off to blistering starts. However, he has released ahead of the retention ceremony as the franchise retained the likes of Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah.
