Parthiv Patel seemed unimpressed after RCB asked fans to choose one opener between him and Devdutt Padikkal
Royal Challengers Bangalore made it to final as many as on three occasions but ended up on the wrong side of the result each time.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be eyeing their first-ever win in IPL next year. The perennial underachievers of the league are one of the only three teams who are yet to lay their hands on the coveted title. The Royal Challengers made it to final as many as on three occasions but ended up on the wrong side of the result each time.
They last made it to the final in 2016 when their talismanic captain Virat Kohli scored nearly 1,000 runs and had lost the game to Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since then, the Bangalore-based outfit has only finished in the bottom half of the points table. In fact, it would not be wrong to say that they are the worst-performing team in the last three seasons.
In 2017, they finished at the bottom of the points table in the eight-team competition. A year later, they improved marginally and finished at sixth. In the last edition, they started the competition by losing their first six games. They did manage to do well in the second half but it was not enough as they finished at the bottom of the table once again.
Ahead of next season, the Royal Challengers have already roped in Simon Katich and Mike Hesson as parts of their backroom staff as they have made their desperation clear. They have also released all but two of their overseas players as they look to make a winning team in the upcoming auction.
The banter between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Parthiv Patel:
Ahead of the next season, all the teams are busy in planning their best elevens and Royal Challengers Bangalore are not an exception either. And perhaps they were struggling to pick one between Devdutt Padikkal and Parthiv Patel as an opener and thus took to Instagram to ask the fans choose one between the two.
Padikkal has been the standout performer for Karnataka in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The opening batsman is currently the top-scorer in the tournament, having scored 461 runs in 10 outings. He has scored one century and four fifties in the competition so far. Parthiv, on the other hand, was one of the most impressive performers for the Royal Challengers in the last season.
Coming to Royal Challengers’ latest Instagram post, they gave the fans a situation that did not leave Parthiv impressed. The franchise asked the fans to choose one between Padikkal and Patel to open alongside Virat Kohli if the team had to chase a mammoth total of 240. And while the fans were posting their decisions, Parthiv Patel hilariously asked the franchise why do they want the team to concede 239 runs in the first place.
