Former Pakistan ODI cricket team captain, Shahid Afridi, seems to be trying to get totally involved in the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. Just after a day Javed Miandad made a bold statement that he was ready for martyrdom and talked rashly about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Afridi, during an interview with Pakistani channel, states that “Pathans are protecting the border ahead of the army.”

Following the Uri attack by terrorists, Afridi took to micro-blogging site Twitter urging for peace between two nations. Recently, Afridi had called for a peace truce by tweeting, “Pakistan is a peace-loving nation, so why talk about extreme measures when things can be resolved through dialogues?”

“Pakistan wants a cordial relationship with all. When two neighbours fight both homes are affected. Say No to war.” #Pakistan #India #Peace #neighbours,” he added.

However, according to the host who was speaking with Afridi, an Indian news portal made fun of that tweet and claimed that ‘Afridi was scared of Indian Army. When asked to comment on this in a cricket show, the former Pak captain, said, “Indians aren’t aware that ahead of the Pakistani army, it is the Pathans who are standing. The borders are all protected by the Pathans.”

Following the tense situations after the Uri attacks, BCCI on September 30 decided that India will avoid playing Pakistan even in the multi-nation tournaments and asked the ICC not to place the teams of the two countries in the same group in the future.
